03  ·  Manipura

You write a whole paragraph to say no.

Somebody asks you for something you do not want to do, and instead of saying no you explain. You give context. You apologize in advance, offer an alternative, and end up agreeing to some version of it anyway.

You call it being nice. It is closer to being afraid of taking up space.

What the Solar Plexus Chakra Handles

Your solar plexus sits just above your navel. The Sanskrit name is Manipura, which translates to city of jewels, because this is where your own brilliance is supposed to live.

It runs your personal power. Your sense of worth. Your will, your boundaries, your ability to decide something and stand on it. It is the chakra of knowing who you are and not needing a vote on it.

When it is off, you shrink. Not dramatically. Just enough that nobody notices, including you.

A Blocked Solar Plexus Chakra Feels Like

  • You over explain when a no would have done.
  • You feel resentful after saying yes, and then guilty about the resentment.
  • Compliments make you uncomfortable enough that you deflect them.
  • You are the most competent person in the room and the least sure of it.
  • You make decisions by figuring out what everybody else wants first.
  • You have a whole personality for other people and a different one alone.

You do not need all of that to be true. Two or three usually tells the whole story.

How to Find Your Balance

Say no once without a reason attached. Just no. Watch what does not happen.

Take up physical space. Sit wider, stand straighter. This chakra reads posture as information.

Finish one thing you said you would do for yourself. The solar plexus is built out of kept promises to yourself, not to other people.

Sun, actual sunlight, on your stomach if you can.

Gold, topaz and yellow. Citrine and tiger eye.
